University of Dope ® , the first party game dedicated to the celebration of hip hop culture, announces their first national distribution deal with Target set to rollout January of 2023. The rollout contributes to the worldwide celebration of Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary furthering the brand's contribution to the culture.
One year after Target announced their commitment to invest $2 billion in black-owned businesses, University of Dope has officially been added to Target’s expanding roster of black-owned games. The rollout was strategically aligned with one of music’s biggest moments as a way to facilitate celebration of the milestone year through education, entertainment, and community. University of Dope is unique in that it is not trivia-based but opinion-based which makes for moments of surprise and (Rapper’s) delight each time it’s played.
“We’ve been building this brand for over 5 years with the goal of getting our game in a big box retailer and it’s finally happening. With the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop being the same year as the release, the timing couldn’t be more perfect for this opportunity with Target,” said University of Dope co-creator Marian Andoh Clarke.
“As a women-led business within two male dominated industries we have a unique perspective and it is exciting to share that point of view with the world.” - A.V. Perkins
